Hello Members,

This thread is to give some information about India Chat Forum (ICF) to new members as well as to remind older members of the days of a younger ICF.

Before ICF:

Prior to the formation of ICF, most of the early members were a part of a temporary forum named as Mod Your Group which was hosted on the Aimoo Forums, a complete webhost + forum software solution.

Mod Your Group

The Mod Your Group Forum was started on 24, Aug, 2009 by Rising Sun and had 3 Admins chosen by members - Rising Sun, Newprouser and Amal.

It was abandoned by the end of the month due to severe lack of features, user friendliness etc.

Free Hosting & CO.CC

Next, using a free host , the "MyBB" forum software was adopted , which was suggested by the former Admin, Amal. It happens to be one of the best thing which we did till date as it was both feature rich and a hit amongst users.

Initially the CO.CC domain provider was used, and the forum was named India Chat Forum, and consequently the forum became indiachatforum.co.cc. It came into existence from 1st september 2009.

The usual problems associated with free hosting made it necessary to move to many a host , and the last among which, and the only one which was pretty decent and offered the best service for a free host was x10hosting.com

Paid Host & New Domain :

We finally moved to a permanent home on 29th October, 2009 :- IndiaChatForum.net with a paid domain cum hosting, Courtesy of Rising Sun, and which continues to be our present home.


But through all this, it was the constant feedback , support and suggestions from our members which made it possible to achieve all the above.

While using free hosts the forum faced many downtime's as well as other problem, in-spite of which, users were active and patient and fully supported the admins, which eventually resulted into IndiaChatForum.net as you see it today !

The Journey Goes On.....

With the change to a paid host and new domain, the forum has seen a tremendous growth.

Staring with an alexa ranking of 10.5 million , it came down to about 7.3 million in 3 months. After 6 months it is now at just .86 million globally !!!

Currently ICF has over 45,000 post from 82 members - a small , nevertheless , a happy online family

The first ever meeting of ICF members, at Bangalore, on 31.07.2010, on the eve of friendships day ! Attendees include Pri_dm, ilovecornflakes, Rajan and Rising Sun.

We, The Admin's, would like to thank all the members for their suggestions, support and feedback and more importantly for making ICF what it is today, after 6 months of initiation of the "spark" !!!

That's nostalgic. I'd like to thank KK, who took the initiative to help us keep in touch with our friends. I was fortunate enough to get NPU's mail id, just before the mass deletion. otherwise i would have been missed out on the opportunity of being part of such a great community. Thanks NPU (sorry, couldn't resist). I am proud to say that ICF is my online home and all ICFians are family. may this forum grow from strength to strength. All the best ICF.
