RE: MDU Books
I assume, you are referring to c/c++ books

I have not used Balaguruswamy, but I have seen that it is a craze among people ... probably because it is in an easily understandable form, i.e simple (or so I heard) ... don't hav proof to back it up

But yeshwant kanetkar is definitely an author I'd recommend... loved the way he has gone into depth in every topic...many doubts that will probably pop up in your mind during the learning process are already addressed (or was so in my case)...nyway, it was an enjoyable book for me

no harm in keeping both.. i don't see why you don't need to keep any book as you never know when u will be needing what Grin

RE: MDU Books
I found Schaum's outline of Programming in C 'by Byron Gottfried quite useful. All Scaum series books - be it Maths, Physics or Computer Science- are really good as they explain the basics very well and there are numerous examples and problems
Y.Kanetkar - I found it useful for understanding the concept of pointers in C .
I have used these books long back, as a teacher Smile
But from exam point of view, I think students prefer Balaguruswamy
