Adobe stopping development on Flash Player for mobile browsers
Quote:If you are big fan of Adobe Flash Player on your Android phone or BlackBerry Playbook , bad news ! Adobe has announced that it is stopping development of Flash Player for mobile browsers and mobile devices. It will however provide critical bug fixes and security updates. This info comes from ZDNET who got early access to this announcement from Adobe. Looks like Adobe is increasing investment in HTML5 and shying away from Flash player on the mobile browser.

Here is the statement from Adobe

Our future work with Flash on mobile devices will be focused on enabling Flash developers to package native apps with Adobe AIR for all the major app stores. We will no longer adapt Flash Player for mobile devices to new browser, OS version or device configurations. Some of our source code licensees may opt to continue working on and releasing their own implementations. We will continue to support the current Android and PlayBook configurations with critical bug fixes and security updates.

Most Android phones and tablets have been boasting about flash player functionality as a big feature over other products in the market. Last year, Steve Jobs posted a long explanation about Why flash is banned on the iPhone and now Adobe’s decision to abort development of flash player on mobile pretty much goes in line with Steve’s explanation. Bad news for device makers who have been betting on Flash

Argument is bad but Discussion is good ! Because argument is to find WHO is right while discussion is to find WHAT is right !!

Thats really not going to happen, but what I think is like Nokia Adobe also is seeing its down fall.
People will evolve and move to silver-light, make it more powerful.... Indirectly adobe is helping MS

In PC's you can surely access it but when it comes to your mobile devices... use the current one or say bye bye

Why such a dumb move ? Hope Google will find an alternative. What is Adobe AIR ? Is it a possible alternative ?

RE: Adobe stopping development on Flash Player for mobile browsers
because they do not want to invest in it, see after certain time people get board with normal things and they try to change to something, as we are seeing now, Silverlight by MS was an alternative of it but the new concept of HTML5 has completely removed the concept of playing the player inside a page and allowing the page directly run videos. That means we dont need player like flash, silverlight, quicktime etc to play video in browser, now in HTML5 we can directly play on the page itself.

That seems like a good alternative. I like Android to go strong. If not for Android, we would have been in an era similar to the one ruled by Mac and MS. Now Mozilla and Ubuntu is also entering mobile OS, a very good sign.
